A truly beautiful and great-sounding 9-bell antique music box by George Bendon, made in Switzerland in c. 1890. The standout feature of this music box is the wonderful array of strikers: bird, bee, butterfly and flowers, all in the same movement. These play on a series of 9 engraved bells, and can be disengaged at will. The movement has been fully overhauled to put it in pristine condition, and it plays a selection of 10 popular and operatic airs with a very fine sound. The rosewood case is of great quality, with an inlay to both the front and the lid, and crossbanding to the front, lid and sides. The tunesheet is original and marks this box out as made by George Bendon, although there is a stamp of AP Co on the governor -- most likely a later retailer's mark. A quite spectacular music box, and a pleasure to behold. More details here:
