Jiuzhaigou (九寨沟), located in the north of Sichuan Province (四川省), southwestern China, is a renowned nature reserve and national park. This picturesque valley, stretching over 72,000 hectares, is celebrated for its stunning multi-level waterfalls, colorful lakes, and snow-capped peaks, with elevations ranging from 2,000 to 4,500 meters. The name Jiuzhaigou translates to “Valley of Nine Fortified Villages,“ reflecting the nine Tibetan settlements along its length. Designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1992 and a World Biosphere Reserve in 1997, Jiuzhaigou is part of the Min Mountains on the edge of the Tibetan Plateau.
