Restoration workers and artisans are racing to finish the reconstruction of Paris' Notre-Dame cathedral, five years after the major blaze that ravaged the iconic monument. On April 15, 2019, a major fire broke out in Notre-Dame. The flames ravaged the monument's roof structure and then spread, destroying the spire, the nave and transept roofs and their wooden frameworks. Since the incident, the 500 workers participating in reconstruction efforts on the site daily have achieved to rebuild the medieval wooden frameworks of the roof and to erect a new spire. French President Emmanuel Macron has said the restoration work is on schedule, with the cathedral slated to reopen to the public on December 8, 2024. __________________ ShanghaiEye focuses on producing top-quality contents.
