The U.S. economy once represented over 50% of global GDP, playing a hegemonic role in global economic governance. However, over the past 30 years, this centralized economic system has shifted towards a more decentralized and distributed global economic network. This transition has brought about both opportunities and challenges, particularly for regions experiencing high growth. Politically, the benefits of a centralized system have waned, and the evolution towards a decentralized global economy continues to shape the economic landscape. Dr. Warwick Powell is an Adjunct Professor at Queensland University of Technology in Australia and a Senior Fellow at the Taihe Institute in Beijing. He is also the chairman and founder of Sister City Partners Limited, a not-for-profit investment bank dedicated to fostering economic links between regional Australia and Asian markets. Warwick's work encompasses a broad range of interests, including China's economic development, regional economic strategies, digital technologies, and the global political economy and governance.
