The Xieng Khouang Provincial Women’s Union facilitated this important workshop on trafficking, domestic violence and counselling. The session emphasised that Lao law protects young people and violence or mistreatment by adults is against the law. The first session also covered emotional violence. The second session discussed human trafficking, marriage with foreigners, illegal adoption of children forced labour and sex workers, organ trafficking and the main routes for human trafficking through South East Asia, China and central/southern Thailand. Trainers explained the characteristics of human trafficking, targeted groups, and discussed the physical and mental consequences of human trafficking.
