The EEG registration procedure is accompanied by the injection of a special gel into the cavity between the skin and the sensor of each electrode. It is the gel layer that effectively removes weak electrical signals from the skull when the contact of the electrode is loose due to the hairline. The thicker the patient’s hair, the more gel volume is required. The use of liquid gel for EEG recording is a proven solution for medical diagnostics. However, liquid gel creates significant inconvenience when used due to: • the need to wash the patient’s head after the procedure, • complex and lengthy cleaning (washing drying) of electrodes and helmets These inconveniences create additional risks: • refusal by the patient from the study due to discomfort or inability to wash his hair after the procedure • dependence of the diagnostic room throughput on the duration of the cleaning procedure for electrodes and helmets • increased likelihood of cross-infection due to improper cleaning of electrodes and helmets from a previous patient New research in the field of organic chemistry has made it possible to synthesize a solid gel - elastic electrically conductive granules of a given shape. After standard preparation at the electrode location (hair spreading, skin degreasing and abrasive scrubbing), the hard gel granules are placed under the electrode sensor using a special gripper. No syringes and needles! At the end of the procedure, the granules are removed together with the electrodes, and, if necessary, are combed out of the hair. For cleaning it is enough to shake out the granules from the electrodes, wipe the helmet and electrodes. Disposable granules, after use are sent for disposal.
