The virtuoso interprets a rich and varied program across genres and time periods, beginning with a mysterious and deeply atmospheric Baroque masterpiece, Bach’s Chromatic Fantasia and Fugue, before bringing us into the Classical era with Mozart’s dazzling Piano Sonata No. 9 in D. Kissin heads next into the heart of the Romantic period with Chopin’s stormy and passionate Polonaise in F-sharp minor, and finishes up with a selection of 20th-century masterpieces by Rachmaninov, including two Preludes and five of the virtuosic Etudes-Tableaux.
