To analyze the Rear Suspension Arm Weldment using FEA, the thin-walled parts are converted into mid-surfaces, which have zero thickness and as a result, introduces gaps between adjacent components. Herein lies the challenge for the simulation engineer, as these gaps must be bridged to properly transfer loads between adjacent component nodes. In this video, we'll see how the latest version of Simcenter Femap helps us located these gaps using the Mesh Control Explorer toolbar. Enjoy!
