Jorja Chalmers is an Australian-born, London-based saxophonist, keyboard player, songwriter, and vocalist. Best known as a longtime member of Bryan Ferry's touring band, she is highly praised for her brash, show-stealing musicianship as well as her tireless work ethic. Her debut solo album, a haunting, ethereal dream pop full-length titled Human Again, appeared in 2019. In 2016, she released a string-laden four-song EP titled Indigo Eyes. Born in Sydney in 1982, Chalmers first started playing piano as a teenager, then decided to learn saxophone soon after. She studied at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music between 2000 and 2004, and briefly taught saxophone to high school students. She moved to London after graduation, and played gigs at various clubs in a new wave band called Hotel Motel, all while holding down a day job in public relations. After Bryan Ferry's assistant caught one of Hotel Motel's gigs in 2007, Chalmers was invited to audition for Ferry's band, and she's been a crucial part of his live shows ever since.
