Композиция символизирует сотрудничество Советского Союза и Соединённых Штатов в период борьбы против нацистской Германии, став памятником не только подвигу лётчиков, но и эпизоду союзничества двух держав. ================================ Concluding his working visit to Magadan, Vladimir Putin laid flowers at the “Heroes of AlSib“ memorial erected in honor of the Soviet and American pilots who provided the airlift of combat aircraft along the Alaska-Siberia air route during the Great Patriotic War. The ceremony took place in the rain. The President honored the memory of the participants of this unique route, along which almost eight thousand aircraft delivered under the Lend-Lease program were ferried to the USSR during the war. These deliveries played a significant role in strengthening the Red Army's air units at the front. The memorial, located near the airport terminal building on the 13th kilometer of the federal highway “Kolyma“, was opened on May 9, 2020. The composition symbolizes the cooperation of the Soviet Union and the United States during the fight against Nazi Germany, becoming a monument not only to the feat of the pilots, but also to an episode of the alliance of the two powers.
