Uppur. Veyil Ugantha Vinayagar. Rama, before having gone to Sri Lanka, to redeem His wife seetha, First, He had come here, and worshiped this vinayagar, that His deed could have fetched victory to Him, by having beaten the demon king Ravana. Devipattinam After having worshiped the Uppur Veyil Ugantha Vinayagar, lord Rama came to Devipattinam, for having consecrated the navagrahas, that is, the nine planets. Here, He consecrated the nine planets in the seawater, which have been made up of ‘Navapashanam’.
