I will restore these rusty antique handcuffs. I bought this interesting pair of handcuffs for restoration. The handcuffs work but they are really rusty. I will remove the rust with electrolysis and the blue the steel to protect it from rust. The handcuffs are constructed in a way that they can’t be disassembled. That is probably a very good design for handcuffs because you don’t want the prisoner to be able to easily disassemble them. To remove the rust I put the handcuffs in electrolysis bath. This will loosen the rust. After that the handcuffs were rinsed clean and dried from the water with heat gun. Then I cleaned the handcuffs with acetone. This will help me to get better result during bluing. For bluing the handcuffs I used my furnace. This could probably be done with torch only but furnace will help me to heat the steel more evenly. If the steel is uneven some parts of the handcuffs might get a bad finish. I heated the handcuffs to a little over 300 degrees Celsius and quenched them in oil. The oil w
