On Sunday, August 1st the second Royal Duchy of the season passed through Dawlish on its journey from Slough to Par in Cornwall. This time it was powered by ex LMS 45596 Bahamas for the section from Taunton to Plymouth and the return as far as Taunton. The diesel-powered sections were handled by West Coast railways 47792 named Carnforth MPD which is where the WCR is based. We were fortunate with fine weather at Dawlish for both the down and the up return and there were many interested spectators to witness the express on the sea wall as it passed looking in fine fettle with its nine carriage train at speed.
