In this heartfelt episode of Adventures into History, day 5 of our ongoing commitment to the Mahone Cemetery restoration brings poignant discoveries and a deeper connection to the past. Joined by Cecil Young, we embark on a meticulous cleanup effort, uncovering layers of history with each step. Our dedication is rewarded as we locate and flag 82 graves within just a third of the cemetery's grounds, revealing the sheer number of souls resting in this long-neglected space. Extrapolating from this, we estimate the total could approach 300, a testament to the many forgotten lives interred here. Among the day's most touching moments is the uncovering of 8-year-old Grady Terry's grave, hidden for decades under four inches of soil. This discovery not only honors Grady's memory but also serves as a reminder of the importance of our mission to preserve and respect
