APHs Hammer Blow - Mahler 6th symphony

Only very close to our (= Akademische Philharmonie Heidelberg/ APH orchestra) concert on 2014 Jan 24, we practiced the famous hammer blow in Mahler´s 6th symphony/ 4th movement (Finale) for the first time. Our drummer was as passionate as the hammer seemingly old ... As my video shows, the hammer broke into its two pieces to the very surprise & fun of all drummers, the whole orchestra and its conductor. However it could be mended for our concert in time (nb: our conductor proposed to use Pritt stick ... hmmmm). Ultimatley the hammer survived two further impressive blows in the concert, which was a great success. Thanks god (especially for our tuba player who sat in front of the hammer platform) we only played the version of the symphony without the 3rd blow ...
