On monday September 24, 1990, portuguese driver Pedro Matos Chaves had is first F1 test, driving a Coloni C3B at Estoril. Driving Bertrand Gachot's T-car, which is about 15kg heavier than the race chassis, Pedro got down to a on old Good Year rubber. Enzo Coloni was satisfied with the young Portuguese after his 25-lap stint, and commented: “Pedro Chaves is an excellent driver, there is no doubt about that. He possesses some quite remarkable qualities and in my opinion he is able to race in Formula 1 next year, without problem. Even today he helped us a lot testing some changes that we are about to introduce in the car for the next race.
