Kim Mulkey is an American basketball coach and former player who is widely regarded as one of the most successful women's basketball coaches in NCAA history. She was born on May 17, 1962, in Tickfaw, Louisiana, and played basketball at Louisiana Tech from 1980 to 1984. Mulkey was a member of the 1984 United States women's basketball team that won a gold medal at the Los Angeles Olympics. After her playing career ended, Mulkey began coaching and has been a head coach for over 20 years. She spent 21 seasons at Baylor University, where she won three national championships and was named the Naismith College Coach of the Year three times. In 2021, Mulkey left Baylor to become the head coach at Louisiana State University. Mulkey is known for her intense coaching style and her ability to motivate her players.
