Walk This Way: #HipHop51March from earlier today August 11th 2024 - the 51st anniversary of the widely recognized date of hip-hop's birth (August 11 1973 at 1520 Sedgewick Ave in the Bronx) - when some hip-hop legends marched from Kool Herc's old spot on Sedgewick Ave. about half a mile, 12 minute walk to Cedar Park in the Bronx where the school bus with DJs and most of the marchers joined in for the rest of the walk “for the health of the Bronx and the rest of New York“ another 2 miles to Crotona Park (the legendary spot for so many park jams). Not everyone advertised (such as MC Sha-Rock) made it to the event. Meanwhile in addition to KRS, MC Lyte and Kurtis Blow - Grandmaster Cas and Coke La Rock also gave speeches at the end in Crotona Park - but unfortunately they were not captured by HipHopSlam on camera. (we got the audio so may post that later). Thanks for watching and Happy 51st Birthday Hip-Hop.
