Sorry but website with templates and plans is now down thanks to hackers and running costs. In this project we make a beautiful little solid gold knife from unwanted scrap gold. The blade is 9ct gold, the handle is 24ct gold that is pinned together with 9ct white gold pins. The gold is cast into a graphite mould. The first one is too small so I use a Dremel and a cheap X-Y table to mill it out to a custom size. I did it like this because I wanted to try it :-) In the second casting I add Borax to final clean the gold so I can cast it with the least impurities as possible. Then quench in an effort to stop the gold softening. Sharpening this knife was difficult I wont lie. I eventually got it sharp enough to shave hair (just) but it goes blunt very fast because gold is a soft metal. It will cut paper, but this damages the blade faster than hair and makes the blade hard to sharpen again.
