The videos for Buick MacKane and Children of the Revolution were filmed on the same day – probably in October 1972 in London, although it is unclear for what purpose they were made. In both videos Marc is using his newly-acquired Veleno custom aluminium guitar. Featuring the classic line-up of Marc Bolan, Mickey Finn, Steve Currie and Bill Legend, Buick MacKane was a favourite track from The Slider album (released 21 July 1972), while the anthemic Children of the Revolution was the third single on Bolan’s label, released 8 September 1972 and reaching number two in the top 40. It is one of Bolan’s most enduring songs and the title phrase is frequently referenced in the English language.
