remembering LOCUSTS / cicadas in Louisiana

We in Donaldsonville called em back when I was maybe the kitchen, in the back of the house, the evening sun was from the west, shining horizontally, brightly, in the room. I remember the melancholy sound. For some reason, it reminded me that I would have to go back to school. Yuck. Going along the highway (70, between the Sunshine Bridge and Cajun Village) years ago, there was a loud cadence outside, which penetrated the closed windows and overwhelmed the car was a consistent cadence, for a mile or two. Today (Aug 21, Louisiana) sitting in the backyard I could hear a “herd“ to the left, I guess 75 yards away, from I guess the oaks, they would slow down and the “herd“ in the old oak 50 yards to the right would liven up. Seems when fall approaches, their “orchestra“ might sound a little melancholy? Curious about that. Something about “the air“ too, it seems.....“fallish“, just a bit, tho hot. And the l
