Arlen Vanke has always been the consummate drag racer, competing with many different brand cars. In the mid sixties he started competing with Chrysler products and was a very successful and feared competitor. In 1969 Chevrolet introduced the ZL-1 Camaro and soon set the record in the NHRA SS/C class, which was one of the classes typically dominated by Chrysler Hemi's.
