Swedish soprano Sigrid Arnoldson (1861-1943) was praised by Swedish critics, early in her career, as the “new Swedish nightingale,“ after Jenny Lind. She debuted in 1885 in Prague as Rosina and went on to a distinguished international career in all the major houses. Her Met debut ws in 1893 as Baucis in Philémon et Baucis.
