It would be something regular, something that every band would have in its history, if it wasn't for the choice of colors that they named their compositions after, some near two-year journeys that delayed the publication of their disc and the idea standing behind it all. (“Daltonist“ is the Polish word for someone with red-green colorblindness.) “With our name, we wanted to bring up the subject of human malfunction and imperfection. We presume, that the most interesting things about people is what is hidden within our limitations.“ - Roman Wróblewski, keyboard. The band is comprised of experienced musicians distilled from the rich and uniquely strong alternative music scene of the Tri-city area (Gdańsk, Gdynia and Sopot). The choice of the color palette of on the first album shows the interest of the daltonists in colors that have connotation with the south-western African area (ochre) as well as the near-east (bedouin). Within the compositions, some R&B, some Omar Souleyman, and some freshness born of Anthem International Records can also be found. A listener can however find relief from the intensity of these colors in “pacific“, as calm as the ocean. The “asphalt“ color transports us to the wilderness of American highways from the second half of the 1960s. Furthermore, the two-part “lampshade“ color collects the entirety of nostalgia and longing for the style of the Polish People's Republic-era lamps of our parents or grandparents within itself. “We don't fully know what to call what the tone of our sound plays out in our music, which is why we strive to disconnect from the superfluous terminology of music, playing in colors“ - Jacek Rezner, drums. The album was recorded in the Tartak Records (Timber Mill records) studio with the technical support of Miłosz Karpowicz ( 'drewnofromlas' - wood-from-forest) now close to two years ago. The premiere was delayed due to many disputes within the group. Disagreement and difference in opinion is an important element of creative work, which many artists struggle to talk about openly. For the daltonists, however, it is one of the main pillars of their existence and a very important inspiration. “Thankfully, we concur with one another just as often as we disagree with each other. It gives us new experiences, which we then transform into unique shades of colors as a form of therapy.“ - Piotr Orzechowski, bass. The album was published in its first edition in digital form. A vinyl version is predicted to become available at the start of 2025. For the album cover, the artist Kamil Lach from Wrocław, working under the pseudonym 'Zgonowicz' (deathovitch) is responsible. The band has already performed in a few very well-received concerts in the northern regions of Poland, and is preparing to go on tour in fall 2024. The tour will promote the current debut album as well as the next, currently in production.
