Shure ADX5D | First Look and Walk Test

Welcome to another great Raycom walk test as we test the operating range of the new Shure ADX5D receiver! The ADX5 is a slot-in camera receiver for the Axient Digital platform, opening up the whole Axient Digital portfolio to location sound recordists and offering ShowLink capability. We use two ADX5D receivers - one in a bag using whip antennas at ground level and one at Raycom HQ connected to fixed antennas - with Raycom's very own tame RF guru, Pyers Easton, walking two Shure transmitters, the ADX1 and ADX1M! The ADX1M is being used at 20mW and utilises an internal helical antenna - the ADX1 is set to 40mW and uses a 1/4 wave whip antenna. These were being received on 1/4 wave whips in the bag and passive log periodic antennas in the studio fed with 5m of LMR400 cable so less than 1dB loss to the RX inputs.
