Note: no sound.. Short video I made from still photos taken during the construction process of the new steeple cab locomotive. This loco is powered by 2 36VDC golf cart motors, it is 12ft long, 4ft wide, and 6ft high and has a total weight of around 1800 lbs. All 4 axles are powered making it the most powerful piece of equipment on the line. The controller has 7 points, which enables smooth operation for jobs like dumping ballast or spraying the right of way which require precise power regulation. The trucks and frame are constructed of steel, while the remainder of the carbody is made of wood. This was done mainly for safety, one of the trolley cars on the line is all steel and on rare occasions that the catenary falls during operation it becomes very dangerous to exit the car, so the decision was made to not repeat this oversight.
