For the lawyer Dr. For Wagner, this is no reason to celebrate - the lonely loner is a misanthrope like he is in the book. Regardless of whether they are business partners, employees or the residents of his apartment building: the sarcastic pedant doesn’t have a kind word for anyone. However, Wagner’s plan to immerse himself in work during the festive season is unexpectedly thwarted: a burst pipe in his penthouse on Christmas Eve floods not only his bathroom, but also the apartments below. The fire department can dry out Wagner’s apartment, but the damage in the apartments below cannot be repaired over the holidays - which ultimately doesn’t matter to the grumpy lawyer. Even though he is the homeowner, he steadfastly refuses to take responsibility. Then the self-confident Rita Niemann and her charming neighbor David quickly resort to self-help: together with Rita’s clever daughter Sophia, her grandson Max, her mother Ingrid and David’s friend Stevie, they settle in Wagner’s chic penthouse. After all, there is enough space there and they bring their own Christmas roast. Wagner’s attempt to throw the bold gang out of the apartment with the help of the police is thwarted with cunning and wit. So he has no choice but to spend Christmas Eve with his unloved tenants - no question that this leads to turbulence. But gradually Rita, David, Sophia and the others manage to break through their landlord’s rough shell. In fact, this miraculous Christmas holds a surprise for everyone involved: for Rita, who is waiting for an important medical test result; for David, whose seemingly happy relationship is on the rocks; for the single parent Sophia, who longs for a permanent partner - and of course for Wagner, who, in the middle of the hustle and bustle, suddenly finds himself face to face with his son, with whom he has had no contact for ten years.
