Adults in Germany will soon be allowed to carry, grow and store cannabis after the government decriminalised recreational use of the drug. It follows Malta and Luxembourg, who have legalised the recreational use of the drug in recent years. From July, private cannabis clubs can supply 500 members on a limited basis. “It’s not the law we expected, but it’s a good law because we will have 180,000 less prosecutions in the next year,” Association of Cannabis Social Clubs head Steffen Geyer said. “There will be a big relief for cannabis consumers if you can have 25 grams of cannabis with you without being in fear of being arrested, in fear of problems with police.”
