In this video, my friend Jeremy (fellow Aussie) and I visit the Abandoned holiday home named “Sestroretsk“ which is located in the Leningrad Oblast. According to sources, until the beginning of the 1960s, a large wooden house stood on this site, which served as a sleeping building for the rest house of the Leningrad border guards (the rest of the buildings - the administrative building, the dining room, the club - all occupied the site. In 1963, the North-Western Border District (NWPO) was created; in the same year the construction of a new brick building of the rest home was completed. In the 1990s - 2000s, the signs on the building changed several times - first it was the SZPO sanatorium, then the FSB rehabilitation centre; in the late 2000s. It was named in advertisements as a holiday home at SZPO “Sestroretsk“. Currently (since around 2009) - the building remains abandoned.
