Vande Bharat Express, also known as Train 18, is a high-speed train in India. It is an indigenous semi-high-speed electric multiple unit (EMU) train that was designed and manufactured by Integral Coach Factory (ICF) in Chennai, India. The train was named Vande Bharat Express to signify India's quest for self-reliance and to celebrate the spirit of “Make in India.“ Vande Bharat Express made its inaugural run on February 15, 2019, between New Delhi and Varanasi. It was hailed as a significant milestone in Indian Railways' modernization efforts and was the country's first engine-less self-propelled train. The train is capable of running at a maximum speed of 180 km/h, making it one of the fastest trains in India. The Vande Bharat Express features several modern amenities and passenger comforts.
