ZiouZiou (2021) Van Manakin is a Vienna-based instrumental combo established in 2020. The two of us are making music for nearly a decade together, jamming the last few years on a regular basis and expressing all the emotional ups and downs of our daily lives. One might say we release our inner jungle by steadily creating wild and energetic soundscapes in our natural habitats - the rehearsal room and the stage. The outcome is a cathartic and experimental mixture of stoner rock, post rock, progressive rock, slight kisses of metal and slaps of funk. The name of the project is inspired by a panamanian bird of paradise named lance-tailed manakin as well as its surroundings - the wildlife of the jungle. Why the manakin?
