The Penguins returned home to PPG Paints Arena to kick off their six-game homestand against the Winnipeg Jets. The Jets we’re able to strike early giving them the 1-0 lead in the first. Winnipeg would go on to tally another goal in the second to extend their lead but the Penguins battled back in the third with back-to-back goals coming from Kasperi Kapanen and Jeff Carter to tie things up. Both teams would go scoreless in the overtime period sending the game to a shootout. Sidney Crosby’s lone shootout goal accompanied by some stellar work by Tristan Jarry in the net gave the Penguins their fifth-straight victory by a score of 3-2.
