Ricercare Antico & Francesco Tomasi (theorbo, baroque guitar & music direction) Thus Francesca Caccini's career strikingly demonstrates the influence of the professionalization of singing for women on the emergence of women composers. Although Caccini composed both more voluminously and over a longer period than her counterparts, other women singers of the time also devoted attention to composition. A further composer who may also have been a singer was Francesca Campana Romana, whose Arie were published in 1629: it is possible that she was one of “le Campane“ who were said by della Valle to be famous singers in Rome around 1640.— Jane Bowers, The Emergence of Women Composers in Italy, 1566–1700, 1987
