(13 Jun 1976) Jody Scheckter pushed his revolutionary six- wheeled Elf-Tyrrell to its first international victory in the Swedish Grand Prix at Andersdorp on Sunday (June 13th). The South African beat his French team-mate Patrick Depailler, also driving a Tyrrell six-wheeler, by nineteen seconds with world champion Niki Lauda of Austria, nearly twelve seconds further behind in third place. Lauda was driving a Ferrari and the Tyrrell victory broke the Italian manufacturers' stranglehold on the Formula One Grand Prix circuit after nine straight victories.
