In footage that will make you never trust snow again, a skier from the Les Powtos skiing group managed to miraculously survive falling down what was functionally a bottomless pit. Speeding down the Le Grave glacier last year, the skier spied a gaping hole in the ice, and attempted to swerve. It was too late. The thin layer of snow gave way to a gaping crevasse that seemed to go on forever, as did the skier’s fall. He managed to break his fall (and amazing, not his legs) by wedging his skies into the sides of the ice, with very little between him and a one-way tumble into oblivion.
