A deadly algae bloom off the coast of Florida has killed thousands of sea creatures. It first started in October 2017, and is the region’s worst in over a decade. Similar blooms occur around the world and are known as “red tides“ for their frequent rust-red coloration. The algae’s toxins have killed many varieties of fish, as well as manatees, dolphins, turtles, and more.
