Mars' kinetic fractures, Martian Spiders and Inverted Streams

Today we are going to explore 3 phenomena on Mars: Impact Fractures (MIFs) observed by the Perseverance Rover, Martian Spiders and Martian Inverted Streams. Impact severs large rock, kinetic energy fractures it upon landing. Stress waves propagate, creating multiple fractures. Weakened by prior geological processes, rocks fracture extensively upon impact. Low gravity amplifies impact effects, causing more fractures. Martian Spiders, discovered by HiRISE MRO, are enigmatic surface features. They consist of radial channels clustered near the Martian south pole. These formations are believed to be related to seasonal CO2 venting processes on Mars. Martian Inverted Streams, imaged by HiRISE MRO as well, reveal ancient river valleys. These channels exhibit raised features and patterns indicative of past water flow. Their presence suggests significant climate changes in Mars' history.
