Greatsword versus Pike #landsknecht #fighting

Although the idea that Doppelsöldner with greatswords would be sent forth to break up a square of pikes is a bit of a myth, a greatswordsman is still more than capable of dealing with one pike and its distinct reach advantage. This would be especially useful when the push of pikes would get bogged down when the pikes get entangled. In those situations, a Landsknecht with a Bidenhander would have to only deal with a few pikes at most, before they were right in the middle of a whole bunch of enemies who now have only sidearms to defend themselves with.
