A few weeks ago I uploaded a rendition of a short prelude in C major by Hesse, which you can listen to here: The sheet music for this short piece indicates to play it allegro with “full organ“. However, the piece seemed to me to work better with a softer stop at a much slower tempo, and so that's how I recorded it at first. I decided to make another rendition of the same piece but played a bit closer to what appears to be the composer's intention. To be honest, I prefer my softer, slower version. The long sustained notes seem to me more suited to a softer registration. What do you think? Which version do you prefer? Played on the sample set for the 2004 Jacek Siedlar organ at the Church of St. John Cantius in Kraków, Poland. Sample set by Piotr Grabowski.
