Footage circulating on social media shows people swimming and using boats to recover aid drops from the sea in Gaza. The French and Jordanian militaries say they worked together to deliver the airdrop to the Gaza coast. Palestinians were filmed running along the shoreline to catch the aid drops. Hundreds gathered on nearby beaches as the crates were brought in from deeper water. Footage from last week shows chaotic scenes as Palestinians fought over access to aid. It’s been difficult for aid agencies to get aid into Gaza while Israel continues its military operations. Aid agencies say it’s become more difficult as the Israeli army has closed in on Rafah, one of the only border crossings into Gaza. Israel says it does not restrict the entry of aid into Gaza, and blames aid agencies for not distributing it efficiently. The UN says that the population of Gaza is on the brink of famine. It’s been reported that children have already started dying from malnutrition.
