I did three recordings of Debussy's Syrinx for solo flute, and this is the compilation video. I am playing a Silver Altus 1407R flute, and a Trevor James Grenadilla Wood flute. I'm also using two different artisan headjoints on the Trevor James flute, an Arthur Haswell headjoint, and a Robert Bigio headjoint. The Trevor James flute comes with it's own headjoint which is finished by Andrew Oxley, and it has a traditional headjoint tenon like an old Rudall Carte flute. It is possible to fit a modern wooden headjoint onto this type of flute, you just need to ask the artisan to make a sleeve to cover the join (both of these headjoints have sleeves). A lot of demonstration videos of flutes are done with people trying them out in the shop, so they don't really have a chance to get used to them. Wooden flutes also 'play in' and develop their sound over time. I have played all of these instruments and headjoints for some time so they have had plenty of time to play in.
