Sri Lankan authorities have arrested three locals in connection with a possible attack targeting Israeli tourists, the country’s Public Security Minister Vijitha Herath confirmed on Thursday. This arrest follows heightened security measures across the nation after receiving warnings from foreign intelligence services about a potential threat. Security forces have increased their presence, particularly in Arugam Bay, a popular tourist and surfing destination in eastern Sri Lanka, after intelligence suggested that Israeli nationals may be at risk. While specifics of the threat remain undisclosed, Herath mentioned that an attempt to disrupt gatherings of Israeli nationals may be in the works.
