Ruins at the Hill Cumorah

I heard different rumors about “ruins“ at the Hill Cumorah while I was making my documentary there, and then I found a family who told me they could take me to some. I was lead through the woods for about 10 minutes and then shown this object, which looks exactly like the base of the Moroni monument at the summit of the hill: #/media/File: Perhaps this is some early iteration of the monument that was dumped into the woods?
