Cross Country bikes have reached a point where you really question the need for any other bike.. they can climb like a race bike and descend like a enduro bike. Specailized released the brand new EPIC 8 and we were fortunate to get hold of a S-WORKS Epic frame which Chromakote created an incredible custom paint job with candy red marble and gold leaf decals! This bike is our interpretation of the modern XC bike, with full FOX factory suspension including their LTD edition Podium Gold 34 with 130mm of travel, tying in nicely with the gold theme. Trickstuff Piccolo master cylinder/levers combined with their dual piston C42 caliper’s give this bike the braking performance to match it’s aggressive riding abilities in a super lightweight package. Syncros Silverton SL wheels are possibly the fastest XC trail wheels available, one-piece carbon rims, wheels and spokes provide an incredibly stiff, lightweight and durable wheelset. For reference we have personally ridden a set of these wheels for over 4 years and in that time 1000’s of KM’s with zero problems, on far more than XC trails. Tan wall Maxxis Rekon tyres are our tyre of choice for this build providing great levels of traction in a lightweight but reliable package thanks to EXO protection. RaceFace ERA bars in 760mm paired with the Turbine stem provide a more trail/enduro focussed cockpit compared with XC options which allow the bike to be ridden to it’s full aggressive capabilities, paired up with the ridiculously comfortable Chester grips. Ceramic Speed OSPW system for SRAM T-type takes efficiency and drivetrain to the next level alongside YBN flat top chain. RaceFace’s brand new ERA chainring which is a combination of carbon, steel and alloy is paired to their super light and stiff NextSL crankset, with Crankbrothers E11 eggbeater pedals. This is not only a incredible looking bike but the components and the frame culminate in one of the most widely capable bikes currently available, take it to your nearest XC race or ride it down a hour long alpine descent, it can do it all and more.
