Title: Visualizing the Signal From the Noice Abstract: The amount of data that wireless technology and intelligent communication networks can generate and transmit is enormous and continually grows at an unprecedented rate. Parallel to this age of data generation and transmission, we face challenges with data management and size reminiscent of the software engineering crisis. With the rapid advancement of big data storage, communication technologies and the ever-decreasing costs of hardware, our ability to derive, store, and share data is unprecedented. However, a large gap remains between our ability to transmit and store large collections of complex, time-dependent data and our ability to derive useful information and knowledge from it. Data visualization leverages our most powerful sense, vision, in order to derive knowledge and gain insight into large, multi-variate, time-dependent data sets associated with wireless technology. This talk provides a glimpse into the vibrant world of time-oriented visualization and some very special techniques specifically designed for complex, signal processing data.
