Nearing the Canadian border is Hotel Niagara, established during the 1920s; it welcomed renowned personalities like President John F. Kennedy, Frank Sinatra, and Al Capone. It gained such prominence that it became Marilyn Monroe's preferred Hotel. Standing tall at 12 stories, the Hotel boasted 200 opulent guest rooms decorated with gilded architecture, intricate plaster moldings, and oak and emerald floors, epitomizing luxury for its era. Unfortunately, with age came deterioration, leading to its closure as a budget accommodation in 2007. In 2019, plans for a $42 million renovation, spearheaded by a renowned developer, were announced, aiming to restore its former glory. However, progress halted due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and as of 2024, the Hotel remains neglected, succumbing to the passage of time.
