Jakatta, real name Dave Lee, produced the original version of ‘American Dream’ in 2001, sampling two Thomas Newman pieces from the soundtrack of the 1999 film American Beauty - ‘American Beauty’ and ‘Dead Already’. The single went on to reach #3 in the Official UK Singles Charts and also reached the top 40 in Ireland, Spain and Belgium. Arriving with his signature blend of organic house, PROFF adds a groovy drum beat while maintaining the distinctive tuned percussion and beautiful Thomas Newman sample found in the original. The result is a vibrant and danceable track with plenty of reflective breathing space in the middle. Jakatta - American Dream (PROFF Interpretation) is out August 23 via Anjunadeep.
