Since winning the Rogue Invitational last fall, Laura Horvath seemed destined to finally take her place as the Fittest Woman on Earth. On August 6, 2023, in Madison, Wisconsin, she made that dream a reality, but she also proved that sometimes destiny isn’t enough . . . you’ve got to work for it. Throughout the week, Laura was often looking up the leaderboard at the 18 year-old Canadian marvel Emma Lawson, and even with the final tests looming on Sunday, the final outcome was very much up in the air. But after finishing runner-up at the CrossFit Games in 2018 and 2021 (and third place last summer), Horvath was determined to re-write the script. In the end, the even-keeled Hungarian won three of the final four workouts, giving her an overall point total edge of 966-919.
