Tesla FSD Beta was off to a great start until it suddenly slammed both front and rear driver wheels into a curb, severely damaging both wheels and clearly needing an alignment. Tesla service notified me they will not pay for the damage, so I suggest everyone forget using autopilot / FSD until it’s ready for real world driving conditions unless you don’t mind paying out of pocket for any deficiencies in its driving abilities. I was very pleased with the vast improvements of 10.8 over the older 10.5, but the curb incident is a nice learning lesson as to situations it hasn’t perfected yet. 10.8 is as good as any Uber driver I’ve had in the last few years, whereas 10.5 felt like nervously overseeing a 15 year old with a learners permit. Update: Tesla remote diagnostics determined multiple sensors need to be replaced, along with upper control arm ball joints need to be repaired. They are taking care of these items ad a goodwill gesture, I’ll just likely have to have the rims fixed myself. Props to T
