In this video you can see a left cervical carotid artery obstructed by a large atheromatous plaque at the bifurcation. We have done this kind of surgery for many years using intraoperative transcranial Doppler and EEG but in the last 10 years, we use only carotid shunt that carefully we placed in all cases. In this patient we used a spiraled shunt but usually we use the shunt with balloon that is easier to introduce.
